We've espied the possibility of her Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk trims at the Los Angeles Auto Show. She made an appearance alongside Jeep Brand Director Scott Tallon at Detroit's eponymous gala. She's set to rev onto the scene at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) in April 2017. And soon to arrive for the CUV segment in late spring, the excitement's mounting for us here at Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Missoula over the second-generation, 2017 Jeep Compass.

A February 24 press release gets our wheels turning right out the gate, with the automaker describing its compact sporting "legendary and best-in-class [Jeep Active Drive full-time] 4x4 off-road capability, advanced fuel-efficient powertrain, a premium and authentic Jeep design, superior on-road driving dynamics, open-air freedom, and a host of innovative safety and advanced technology offerings." She looks quite the ride, and the proof's plain to see.
Inside Compass's small-wide-architecture, stiff, mass-efficient body and frame, comprised of more than 65 percent lightweight, dynamics-enhancing, high-strength steel all atop a fully independent suspension, a 180-horsepower, 2.4-liter Tigershark four-cylinder engine will dispense a 175 pound-feet of torque with best-in-class 4x4 fuel economy of 31 mpg highway when coupled with six-speed manual transmission to make the CUV a true contender.
2017 Compass Trailhawk stands out in the group, with a one-inch-increased ride height, skid plates and Jeep signature red front and rear tow hooks, a 20:1 crawl ratio and intimidating 17-inch off-road tires, each coming together to make possible towing hauls up to 2,000 pounds, ascending uneven terrain and overcoming diverse obstacles, including fording up to 19 inches of water.
More builds and options abound, so there'll be more where these workhorses of the off-the-beaten-path came from. Stay tuned for 2017 NYIAS, and beyond, 2017 Jeep Compass's late-spring debut. In the meantime, take a ride in one of our four-wheel-drive 2017 Jeep Compass Sport models to get a feel for what the line can do for your Montana excursions, or in a comparable hard-charging 2017 Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Patriot, Renegade, Wrangler or Wrangler Unlimited.
