No. Well, yes, if you like comparing apples to oranges—but no. While the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk offers an off-road driving experience that’s nothing short of exhilarating, we think comparing it to the beastly Wrangler is counter-productive. And while the latter was designed for off-roading, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk can do both.
If you’re worried this Trailhawk will let the Grand Cherokee’s impressive on-road experience fall by the wayside, don’t worry. It’s been preserved, and continues to be laudable. Better yet, both Pentastar and EcoDiesel V6 engines, and the HEMI V8 are offered in Trailhawk guise. Reviewers found that even V6-equipped models had plenty of power to navigate boulder-strewn trails, which isn’t surprising in the least. Not only is every engine available formidable, but the Trailhawk’s unique suspension and drive modes ultimately do more leg-work than a mill’s torque output.
