Autumn means a number of things like chunky sweaters, football and colorful foliage. The latter, however, can create some rather unique dangers for drivers. Although nice to look at, fall leaves are hazardous when accumulating on the roads. Before venturing out into fall, here are some items you may want to think about:

  • When wet, leaves become incredibly slippery. Reduce the possibilities of losing control of your vehicle by traveling slowly and leaving yourself plenty of braking distance.
  • Be mindful of the fact these leaves cover potholes and road bumps as well as lure kids to jump in them. The best thing to do is steer clear of larger leaf piles.
  • Keep leaves off your windshield, so they don't get stuck in your windshield wipers.
  • Avoid parking over a pile of leaves, so that your exhaust system doesn't cause a fire hazard.
