Motor Trend magazine is truly one of the most respected automotive reviewing publications in the industry. At the beginning of December, the organization handed out their yearly "car of the year awards." The awards were divvied up by segments and categories, and we are very happy to report that the Ram 1500 was named as the 2013 Motor Trend Truck of the Year.
This is actually the second consecutive year that folks at Motor Trend have given the award to the 1500. This is especially impressive because the competition is particularly steep in this segment of the market. Ford, Chevy, Nissan, and Toyota were all in the running with their own pickup offerings, but there was just something special that the judges loved about the Ram 1500 that made it better than the rest.
Ed Loh, the editor-in-chief of Motor Trend, spoke about the award, saying, "Not only did the Ram 1500 withstand our rigorous testing, it thoroughly impressed our judges with its vast array of standard and optional equipment, and, most notable, its fuel-efficient, segment-exclusive EcoDiesel V6. With 420 pound-feet of torque and up to 28 'Real MPG' highway, the EcoDiesel is a true game-changer."1
