In the advertising world, it really pays off to create a TV spot that is so outside the box that people are talking about it for weeks. To employ this stategy, Dodge recently called upon the help of the popular fictional character Ron Burgundy to assist. Not only is he promoting his new movie "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" during the 30-second spot, but he is also highlighting the new 2014 Dodge Durango.
During one ad, Ron Burgundy appears on stage standing between a shiny new Durango and one white horse. He mentions that the SUV features a Hemi V8 engine that can crank out an impressive 360 horsepower, then turns to the horse and states, "This thing is literally 360 times more powerful than you. Look at you, you’re worthless."1
In another spot, he highlights the spaciousness of the vehicle's glove compartment, one of the many features that comes standard on the Durango. He even goes on to describe exactly what can fit inside just to put it into perspective. For example the 0.1 cubic feet of storage is large enough to fit 70 packs of gum, two turkey sandwiches, or twenty rulers. Ron Burgundy certainly knows how to make even the simplest of features sound exciting.
As of now these comical TV spots can be viewed on YouTube, with Chrysler planning to eventually make 67 different ads in the series. Be sure to check them out when you get the chance!
Of course the best way to really get a feel for what the Durango has to offer, is to head on over to Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Missoula to take one for a test drive yourself. We'd be happy to answer any questions about the stylish SUV, or show you what else the new Dodge lineup has to offer the greater Missoula, MT area. We look forward to assisting you in every way that we can.
