While many of you have been getting quite excited about the launch of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, you will now have to wait just a little longer before its arrival. Despite the need to postpone the launch, the Chrysler group confirmed in an interview with the Detroit Free Press that the model will still be making its way to dealerships like Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Missoula this fall.

The reason for the delay is that the automaker wants to ensure each model is properly evaluated later on during the development process to create a smoother product launch. With advanced technologies and the latest innovations, quality checking can take some extra time. However, it sounds as though it will definitely be worth the wait.

To further explain the reasoning behind the delayed launch, Mark Chernoby, Chrysler Group's senior vice president of engineering, says, "Manufacturing the Cherokee is more complex than most new models because it is designed on an underbody adapted from Fiat, Chrysler's majority owner. The Cherokee also is the first Chrysler vehicle to feature a nine-speed transmission developed with German supplier ZF Group."1

Although the automaker is worried this delay could offset Chrysler Group sales goals, we have no doubt that once the Jeep Cherokee model is launched, its instant popularity will allow for a speedy recovery. We will be sure to keep you updated right here on our blog as more information is released.
